My name is Liz, and this is my studio. I'm a mixed media artist working in all forms of paper art: collage, acrylic painting on paper and mail art. All of the pieces featured on this site are original works - I don't like repeating myself. Unless they're marked SOLD, they're available for sale. Artist Statement
I've been making art all my life - it's just that simple - and working with paper is my passion. Most of my artwork draws its source from my interest in historic textiles & decorative arts. Although my inpsiration often comes from reading - poetry & prose - and sometimes from song lyrics. I love nothing better than the rush I get when some phrase on a page suddenly gives me a visual "flash" and a the idea for a new piece of visual art is born.
My mother taught me to sew at an early age and I often incorporate stitching in my pieces. Darker passions too have crept their way into my work - many pieces feature torn and burned elements. While I tend to shy away from generalized descriptions, I will say that I work purely from inspiration and therefore my work has a surreal sensibility.
Currently, I've branched out into the world of jewelry making ...it's that fire thing again. While I don't have space at present to set up torch & hearth, my jewelry does feature artistian sterling silver. I purchase hand produced sterling findings from other artists to incorporate into my pieces. If I can't make it myself I might as well support some other artist trying to make a living!
This is my art - for better or worse - I make no apologies. I create because I am compelled to do so.
